One of our kids has eczema. At first we couldn’t figure out what to do. The doctor prescribed a steroid cream. Her eczema got so bad though that we were using that almost every day just to help her be comfortable and not scream and cry. It was really terrible. We didn’t want to have to use that every day but if we didn’t she would just scream.

We took her to a dermatologist who finally suggested we use this particular cream: https://a.co/d/4AojpHF

It’s the plain CeraVe without anything added to it. It’s the blue one like the image above. It helped so much. Finally we would put that on her every day instead of the steroid cream and that worked pretty well. We had tried so many others and they did not work nearly as well as this one did.

After a while I did some research and found that if you live in a dry climate, which we do, humidity and humidifiers can help. I did a lot of research and found that humidifiers that work for example with ultrasonic technology will put the minerals in the water into the air. You don’t want to be breathing that in.

I eventually learned about Venta humidifiers. These humidifiers work through evaporation from disks with holes in them. By using this type of humidifier, you only end up with water in the air and if there are any minerals in the water, they will be left behind in the bottom of the humidifier. This is much healthier for your lungs.

Eventually I got a few of these humidifiers. I now keep the humidity in our home within a few points of 50% humidity at all times.

This has helped our daughter’s eczema so much. We are now to the point that we rarely have to put cream on her. Sometimes she goes months without needing any cream at all.

We basically went from her just screaming every day from the pain and itchiness of her skin even when we were putting special creams on her entire body, to now basically almost never even needing to put cream on her. If we do even need to put cream on her, it is usually in just a few places like the inside of her elbows and knees. There’s not a need to completely cover her in cream like there used to be.

Long story short, if cream is needed, that plain Cerave is the cream we use. The blue one specifically. Next, if you maintain proper humidity, the skin is more likely to stay healthy on its own.

One more thought. My daughter also sleeps on an earthing mat. I’m not sure, but I think that may also be helping. Earthing

Finally, this is another big help, but I think as you try to reduce stress in your family’s life, that will also greatly help things like eczema because stress can be a trigger for things like eczema. I have another note I wrote about a strategy I use to reduce stress and increase the peace in my life: Spiritual Practice and Mental Health
